Align with the Sublime! (Technique)

This last technique will further deepen and refine your practice. It is so simple, but has been for me, one of the most powerful aspects of my meditation practice.

  • Close your eyes and center yourself.
  • Focus your inner gaze on your Third Eye.
  • Bring the tip of your tongue to touch your upper palate and let it rest there gently.
  • Meditate! Practice in the way that is most pleasing to you.

This new technique will take practice. At first, you might only be able to sustain the practice for a few seconds. Gradually, you will be able to sustain it for longer periods.

Why do this?

The ancients discovered that placing the tongue on the roof of the mouth leads to very profound meditation experiences. In some lineages, this is only the first step to more refined and complex related techniques, not accessible to most of us. But that does not matter. We don’t need to dive more into the deeper steps of this and other esoteric practices to experience its benefits.

Mystics and sages knew that by placing the tongue on the upper palate, we connect with the pineal gland, considered to be the “Seat of the Soul,” defined in this manner by Renee Descartes, the philosopher.

In other words, this simple, but very potent technique can directly connect us with a power greater than ourselves, and our very center or soul essence.

Connecting with the pineal gland facilitates a deeper understanding and balancing of the mysteries of life in general, and the ancients believed it would lead to illumination and blissful states. It allows us to access higher states of consciousness and it can also enable us to regulate our sleeping and waking cycles and balance our hormones. As you can see, there are both physiological and spiritual benefits to practicing this technique.

When should I practice this technique?

This is a very good and important question. In the beginning follow the first of the following suggestions. When you are ready, add the second suggestion, and eventually the last:

  • Begin your meditation practice.
  • Do the “Align with the Sublime” technique of placing the tongue on the roof of your mouth, connecting with the pineal gland, while you inwardly chant, “I AM.”
  • Link this technique with the “I Commune with the Divine” Breath Technique.
  • Practice the technique during any portion of your meditation.

Now you have learned the last two techniques of this course. They are both simple but powerful beyond your wildest dreams.

You have received all that you will ever need here. Everything presented is part of a blueprint you can follow for the rest of your life. Some parts of the blueprint will speak to you more than others. Always do what feels right to you.

Even if some practices don’t resonate with you in this moment, be willing to revisit them later. Sometimes we are not quite ready for some practices or experiences.

Have you ever found yourself picking up a book or movie that you just couldn’t get into? But maybe later, sometimes even years or decades down the road, you find that it was just perfect for you. Sometimes the reverse happens as well: something that spoke to you at one point no longer does, and it leaves you wondering why it did in the first place.

Be willing to revisit, experiment, explore and grow!

So, practice, and simply enjoy!
